David qualified as a chartered accountant in 1989, having gained experience in one of the “big 4” accounting practices, David then specialised in Corporate Finance for a National accounting practice, looking after funding requirements from the client base across various Midlands offices.
Having utilised the services of brokers whilst in a “corporate finance arena”, David saw the merit in putting together such a business in order to access many forms of funding and to bring brokerage into the professional arena.
David established Sterling Capital Reserve Ltd in 1990, with a view of setting up a professional team of experienced commercial finance brokers, accessing multiproduct services for a wide introducer base, and not restricting the service to one firm of accountants.
As well as running Sterling from a strategic and operational aspect, David takes a “hands on approach” and provides lead advisory services to clients looking at corporate transactions (Acquisitions, MBO, MBI). Funding for which is sourced from utilising the services of the in house brokerage team.
Outside of work, David is an eternal optimist holding a season ticket at Nottingham Forest, plays chess at county level and provides a taxi and cashpoint service to two grown up children.

Nic works predominately on property transactions and has extensive experience in delivering real solutions to his clients, typically when their bank has said No.
He has over 17 years’ high street banking experience, initially with Barclays, before working for HBOS as a New Business Development Manager.
He left HBOS to join Sterling Capital Reserve and now has over 9 years experience out in the real world. He is a solution focused individual and is committed to helping all clients to achieve their goals.
Nic’s expertise is primarily working for property investors supporting them in building their portfolios. He also has an excellent knowledge of the development finance sector with a close working relationship with the majority of lenders in this sector.
Nic prides himself on working with his clients throughout the whole process and has numerous clients who have come back to him with further proposals.
Nic is a huge sports fan, an ardent armchair Forest fan and enjoys playing squash, golf and swimming. He has three chickens and grows his own and is an amateur home-brewer. He is allowed to enjoy all of these providing his services as a Dad Taxi have been completed.

Andrew spent nearly 30 successful years in the Commercial Banking Industry looking after a general portfolio of Clients in the SME Market Place for Barclays Bank.
He moved to Sterling Capital Reserve in 2007 as a Commercial Finance Consultant, specialising in raising finance against property. He has successfully assisted Clients, to purchase, refinance and raise additional capital to meet their business goals and aspirations across various business sectors. This has been achieved during a period when Commercial Mortgages for property has been harder to come by.
Andrew can obtain finance for Clients looking to buy and refinance their trading premises or for Clients requiring assistance to buy and refinance investment properties. This can be Commercial, Semi Commercial or Buy to Let properties.
Although sourcing finance for all types of business, Andrew has developed a niche for raising mortgages for Children’s Day Nurseries, Public Houses and Hotels.
He has received numerous testimonials for his high level of professionalism, customer service and a desire to get the deal completed as quickly and as efficiently as possible.
Outside of work Andrew is a keen golfer and a long suffering Nottingham Forest supporter.

Andy spent the first 11 years of his working life at Natwest and the last 25 years as a Broker - including 15 years at Sterling Capital Reserve.
Andy has seen virtually every type of deal over 25 years; most of his
Clients today are Property Investors / Developers and he prides himself
on the fact that he is still arranging Facilities for Clients today whom
he first acted for more than 20 years ago - he must be doing something
Andy also has Clients in the Care Home, Childrens Day Nursery and Hotel
Outside of work, Andy's wife drags him off to participate in extreme
Long Distance Running / Walking Events - including an Annual 100 mile
Football - keep it quiet from his colleagues, a covert Derby County
David joined Sterling Capital Reserve in 2012 after 34 years in banking and 28 years specifically in Commercial Banking (businesses with a turnover between £1-25M).
He now specialises in arranging finance through the developing Peer to Peer sector. While David works mostly with the longer established platforms which have proven ability to deliver he also keeps close to new platforms as they emerge.
With a keen interest in all the new “alternative” forms of finance David can arrange single invoice finance, loans against future card receipts and has access lenders who provide short term cash flow support.
Steve spent 38 years in banking in a variety of roles, initially at NatWest and later in a role as a senior healthcare business development manager at NatWest/RBS.
Steve joined Sterling Capital Reserve in 2009, to specialise in advising clients in the healthcare sector.
Steve arranges funding for a wide range of healthcare businesses specialising particularly with funding for GP practices / medical centres - pharmacies- dentists - opticians - care homes - vets - almost all cases involve significant unsecured lending being requested and arranged.
Outside of work, Steve's grandchildren keep him occupied when he isn’t off on one of his cruises.
John joined Sterling Capital Reserve in September 2014 after almost 38 years in Banking, 30 of which have been spent in the Corporate and Commercial Banking sector.
During this time he held various relationship and business development managerial roles including leading a team of lending managers he has also worked in two Banks credit underwriting departments. He has a reputation for providing a quality professional service combined with a commercial attitude to getting a proposal completed.
His focus is on Business Development across all the funding products we can access. John has a widespread network of professional intermediaries and is keen to work with professionals and businesses who want to ensure they have access to the widest and most appropriate funding lines.
Outside of work John is a proud “blue nose” Evertonian, enjoying watching most sports with a good beer or a fine glass of red.
